Short Trail Description

A Spanish beach ride weekend at the Costa Brava! We ride across the beautiful hinterland of the Costa Brava down to the Mediterranean Sea. The Spain Beach Ride Weekend is suitable for experienced riders who are confident in the saddle at all gaits. The highlight of this trail is the gallop on the beach.

Recommendation

The Beach Ride Weekend can only be booked in winter, spring and autumn. In summer, we are happy to organise day rides to the Catalonian hinterland.

Day 1: Beach ride weekend in Spain

Arrival at Girona airport in the afternoon and transfer (approx. 30 min. from Girona) to the pretty country hotel near to the beach, which dates back to the 16th century and is built of natural stone. The rooms are tastefully furnished. The unique light transforms the surroundings into a picturesque painting. We have the opportunity to have a swim in the pool. What a wonderful place to start your beach ride weekend.

Day 2: Trail to the sea

At a steady pace, we ride through the amazing countryside of the Costa Brava towards the sea. Deep forests not only cover the mountains but reach further beyond the borders, meeting the meadows of the valley and flowing towards the Bay of Roses. On horseback, we discover the lovely medieval villages with their Iberic castles and romantic churches. We admire the beautiful architecture and are followed by the echo of our horse's hooves on the narrow streets. We spot window shutters decorated with flowers and huge, noble wooden doors with strong iron handles. We have a picnic and a siesta and then continue to ride towards the beach! After a long and exciting day, we reach the sea. We stay overnight in a cosy country hotel with a pool near the sea.

Day 3: Beach ride & beautiful Catalonia (*)

With the first rays of sunlight we start early. We arrive at the sea with our horses and a dream comes true - in front of us we have a long sandy beach. With the sunrise, we canter through the break point, our horses playing with the waves - they love the refreshing water. Afterwards, we ride on the banks of the River Fluvia into the hinterland where we have a picnic as well as a siesta. With renewed strength and well-rested, we ride though a softly curved hillside landscape back to our horse farm. We have the opportunity to swim in the pool or relax in the garden before our hosts treat us to a delicious dinner.

Transfers & Caterings

Notice

First day: on arrival dinner is at approx. 9 p.m.
Last day: before departure breakfast is at approx. 9 a.m. (lunch on demand, + 20€)
Due to local conditions, a route change or amendment may be necessary.
The tour operator reserves the right to substitute the described accommodations by equivalent if necessary.

Accommodation

Single Room / Double Room / "Half Double Room"

Single rooms cannot always be guaranteed though booked. If a previously confirmed single room is not available, the guest is entitled to a refund of the price paid for those nights surcharge.

Single travellers have the option to book a "Half Double Room".

Half double rooms for bookings 60 days prior to departure can only be booked, if at that time a same-gender customer is also waiting for a roommate. If this is not the case, we will book a single room with the regular, advertised surcharge.

If the arranged transfer times do not fit with your departure times, we would be happy to organize a taxi for you (about €80-€120 from Girona, €240-€280 from Barcelona, depending on the trail start/end points). Other departure destinations provided on request.

Important notice to all customers!

All trail itineraries are general guidelines and in order to offer our customers the best riding holiday experience we make occasional changes.

Depending on the number of concurrent trails, the season, the weather and national holidays, we may make alterations to itineraries at short-notice, which could affect the number of riding hours per day, the route we take to any given destination or the use of alternative accommodation. Trails can also be ridden in both directions. All changes are at our discretion but when changes are made, we endeavour to ensure that our high standards of quality are maintained and reflected in the alternatives we choose.

(*) It is specified in the Coastal Law (Law 22/1988, of 28 July) and the regulations surrounding it (Royal Decree 1471/1989, of 1 December), that excursions operated in places of maritime public domain should not be for profit. We would like to advise that we do not charge for riding on any beach and therefore that part of any ride is free of charge.

Beach Ride Weekend

An experience to be repeated! The Beach Ride Weekend has exceeded all of our expectations! Even the first riding day was unique. What a great feeling riding on a beautiful Andalusian horse through the alleys of small villages that take you back to times long gone. We wanted to see the authentic part of Catalonia, far away from big hotel resorts. And we can only recommend this. Our guide was very experienced, and he could tell us many interesting facts about the Catalans’ culture.

Everything was perfectly organized – from the booking to the realization! The best part of this holiday was definitely the canter on the beach! Our horses were highly motivated, but easy to control. You can only get this feeling of pure freedom on a long sandy beach! Simply unforgettable!

This was the first, but certainly not the last time that we booked a holiday with Panorama-Trails! We are already looking forward to our next trail ride!
