Trail Route

Day 1: Welcome to Catalonia

Arrival in Barcelona or Girona, followed by transfer to the first accommodation. Our destination is a traditional Catalan stone house full of character. The host warmly welcomes us. In the idyllic garden, you can unwind and relax—a perfect place to prepare for the upcoming adventure in the Pyrenees. Over a delicious dinner, we meet our fellow riders and guide.

Day 2: Medieval charm by the river

After a hearty breakfast, we meet our four-legged companions for the days ahead. Following a thorough introduction and preparation of the horses, we eagerly set off on our adventure. The path leads us through dense Catalan forest, where sunlight dances through the leafy canopy. Soon, the landscape opens up before us: wide river meadows stretch out, light shimmering on the water, and a peaceful calm fills the air. Time for our first rest. We let the horses graze and enjoy a nourishing picnic by the rushing Fluvià—the first of seven rivers accompanying us on this journey.

During the afternoon, we ride briskly along broad, soft paths—ideal for extended trots. Our horses quickly find their steady, powerful rhythm, and we immerse ourselves fully in riding and nature. Every breath feels lighter; everyday worries fade almost completely. By evening, like a glimpse from another era, the medieval town of Besalú appears before us. Our accommodation is right by the impressive Romanesque bridge, welcoming us with historic charm. Surrounded by ancient walls and winding streets, we end an eventful day in the saddle in a truly special atmosphere.

Day 3: Aniol Wild Stream – Ride into the rocky gorge

At daybreak, we cross the swiftly flowing Fluvià River on horseback. Moving briskly, we follow its natural course towards the Alta Garrotxa. A Roman stone bridge leads us to our picnic spot by the water. The clear, cool river basin invites us to swim, a refreshing delight on a sunny day!

Refreshed, we continue into a secluded valley surrounded by towering cliffs. Here, we spend the night. Amidst pristine nature, under a vast starry sky, we fall asleep in the dome tent, embraced by the scent of the mountains and the gentle sound of water.

Day 4: Alta Garrotxa – Rocky mountain range

After a delicious breakfast, we set out for the remote heights of the Garrotxa. The trail leads us to a solitary mountain village with sweeping views over the rugged peaks. Then we descend into a quiet valley, passing the “Rock of Last Hope,” once marked by outlaws. Down in the valley lies the Riera de Beget. Here we pause and enjoy a refreshing bath in the clear mountain water. The natural river pool, framed by rocks and shady trees, is the perfect spot to relax.

Well rested, we ride further through the water-rich valley. Three rivers converge in Beget, their gentle murmur accompanying us on the last kilometres. Our lodging is a simple but charming country house. After dinner, we unwind and reflect on the day.

Day 5: Wild stream beneath the leafy canopy

Today’s ride takes us to Camprodón, a picturesque Pyrenean town on the Ter River. The paths lead through lush forests. Beneath the green canopy, we discover a pristine wild stream bubbling over stones. We dismount and immerse ourselves in its cool waters! The refreshing dip under the warm midday sun is a true blessing. Afterwards, we enjoy a tasty picnic by the riverbank.

In the afternoon, we ride through the diverse Pyrenean landscape, soaking in the rich flora and fauna. There are plenty of opportunities for trots and gallops. At last, we reach Camprodón, a charming mountain town nestled among the peaks.

Day 6: Breathtaking views and wild Pyrenean horses

Early in the morning, we set off again. Our horses carry us steadily up into the stunning Eastern Pyrenees. The sun gently warms us, while a light breeze brings welcome freshness, making riding pure pleasure.

At the summit, we enjoy wide views of green alpine meadows and rugged mountain peaks. Along the way, we encounter grazing cattle and, with some luck, wild Pyrenean horses. The descent leads us to a small brook, where we rest in pleasant temperatures. Sunlight sparkles on the water as we dip our feet into the cool stream, admiring the peaceful landscape.

In the afternoon, we reach the Ter River and follow it to a former farmhouse, our lodging for the night. Around a barbecue under the open sky, we share stories from this unforgettable ride - a journey that will remain vivid in our memories.

Day 7: Hasta la próxima!

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye. But not “Adiós”—instead, a cheerful “Hasta la próxima!” - Until next time!
